We met at Coaldrakes..

My first paper crush was an older and more distinguished paper fold. The George Clooney of folding perhaps? Yes you guessed it Origami! Origami (pronounced or-i-GA-me) is the Japanese art of paperfolding. "Ori" is the Japanese word for folding and "kami" is the Japanese word for paper.

I bought my first origami book from Coaldrakes at Newfarm. Kind of like a beginner Ori101 course. I learned all my simple folds and took note of the italics small print quote.. 'good origami is patient origami'. This makes me smile. Once I could do a few folds, I got a little over excited jumping from page to page to what ever tickled my fancy.
I have still so much to do, and so many folds to wrap my head around. But for now here are my completed projects from Ori101.
My favourite decoration that I was happy to call "patient origami" was the Kusadama 'medicine' ball. I have used this lovely fold on just about everything.

Here are my little treasures...
